Design & BRAND DEVELOPMENT
Pete's Fresh Market is a grocery chain with a growing number of locations in the Chicago area. During this phase of expansion, Pete's needed a fresh (pun intended), clean, and cohesive new look. Working with Pete's since 2013, I executed a strong brand identity across its new stores and marketing. In the process a new logo was developed that reflected the local reference to just "Pete's" while still paying respect and consistency to the previous logo. Working on site, a wide array of projects were completed to convey the new brand including billboards, exterior/interior signage, private label packaging, web design, and print/audio/video advertising.
The logo for Real Estate Broker Veronica Miklusicak aims to capture her unique approach to the field. The handwritten and feminine text conveys her casual yet boisterous personality. At the end of the day though, her no-nonsense business savvy is shown in the minimalist lower portion of the logo. A challenge with the design of the logo was to create one that stood out, but also fit in with @ Properties branding. The success of which is shown on the logo applied to the company's "For Sale" signs.
The University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Business celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2019. In honor of this historic occassion, they held a Centennial Celebration Weekend. I worked with the event planning team to help build physical and digital displays for their main event at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. I implemented the event’s existing logo and brand guidelines across an array of materials. Shown here are examples like large scale displays, oversized floor clings, stage backdrops/step and repeats, and digital signage for the stadium. I exceeded the team’s expectations and met their rapid timeline for the event.
Stonewall Institute is a Drug & Alcohol Treatment Center based out of Phoenix, Arizona. Stonewall reached out to me to update the company’s branding and logo. The logo redesign process required a modernization of the previous logo that also kept existing elements. I chose to update the logo with strong uppercase text, clean up & reduction of the green squares, and streamlining the bordering box. The end result is a nod to the old logo, but conveys a modern & professional treatment center. The new logo was then translated into marketing pieces including brochures, rack cards, and social media graphics.
Payment Plan Services is a finance company that offers interest-free payment plans on variety of vehicles including cars, water-craft, and motorcycles. As a new company, I worked with them to create their initial branding. A logo was developed to represent trust in the financial industry. This was achieved via strong blue colors and a modern font. The partially broken letters and the pieced hexagon also add a subtle nod to their payment plan set up- breaking up a much larger payment over multiple installments. The initial branding also included the creation of stationary and a one-page sales sheet. The sales sheet includes custom drawn icons.
Footprints to Recovery is a national addiction treatment provider focused on providing substance and mental health treatment to those suffering through out the United States. Their primary clientele are individuals ranging in age from 18 - 35. The logo and branding were already in place when I joined them as a freelance designer. Since joining, I have worked to update previous materials and create a series of new ones with my own take on their branding. The brand focuses on eye-catching color, high quality & personal photography, and bold use of type. Samples shown reflect print materials and various banner ads.
Brewery Concept Design
Inspired by Art Deco colors and motifs, Hop Deco is a conceptual brewery. The brand is inspired by the bright colors of the Miami Art Deco scene, bringing out a youthful and energetic design. The ubiquitous golden hop is graphically inspired by New York's Deco Chrysler Building. Envisioned as an urban start up, the bold and graphic packaging and label aims to stand out against constantly increasing competition.
All Star Pet Care is a dog day-care, boarding, and walking business. The logo and mascot were updated to modernize and help the owner get the look he was originally hoping to have. For the logo, a sport-style tail was added to the logo and the text was incorporated for the look of a jersey graphic. The previous mascot was also updated. A custom illustration incorporated the look of a German Shepard and business branding with All Star Pet Care’s coloring and logo.
Coffee Shop Concept Design
Doppio is a conceptual coffee house named after the Italian word for a double espresso. Conceived as a straightforward, quality over quantity coffee maker, Doppio's logo is clean, simple, and to the point. The uncomplicated conversion of the first "O" to an espresso drip serves as a jumping off point for the brand's identity. Extending the logo and brand motifs to all customer facing materials ensures that the experience is remembered by the customer.
Florist & Home Store Concept Design
Green House is imagined as an independent neighborhood florist focusing on arrangements, weddings, housewares, and plants. The handwritten identity calls to the handicraft of the business. The brand identity also acknowledges fun and whimsy through nature inspired prints. This youthful and feminine brand is seen through gift certificates, price tags, and the shop's website.
Deli Concept Design
Mancini Bros. has been developed as a century old brand that needed a breath of contemporary design. As a deli passed down over generations, the youngest sons wanted a new brand that would appeal to millenials. This new identity acknowledges their extensive past but has a clean and fresh look. This is done by incorporating the new logo and typography to materials that reveal history and superior quality.
Conceptual Furniture Maker
Graham Furniture is imagined as a contemporary furniture craftsman. His restrained use of materials and design is reflected in his straightforward brand identity. Crisp lines and clean white-space are enhanced by quality stationary and no-fuss web branding.
Bar Concept Design
Swig is visualized as a classic cocktail bar in a trendy urban neighborhood. The simple black and white design brings an air of the 1950's and 60's into the current day. The bar's focus on classic drinks is translated into the website and menu with simple imagery and layouts. At the same time an easy elegance is captured in the less-is-more color palette.
